to my lover, lake michigan

a few days ago I drove w the windows down through rolling green fields and on tight turns past many red barns

I was listening to my playlist, “Sailing on Sundays”

I cruised through the curves around lovely summer cottages

I was on my way to dinner at my boss’ lake house

it struck me!

this is my life. I live here. in Michigan.

I accomplished my childhood dream

I am so happy here, again…

I missed Lake Michigan

this past week I have run in and out of her 40 degree waters

watched as the sun came up and went down with new sweet souls

last night I watched as the sun began to sink

I thought, how wonderful is it that one day I will sit here with the love of my life

our children laughing and throwing sand nearby

I cannot wait to find out what is in store for me
